The Gambian Community Library Project offers guidance and counselling services for the youths on academic and professional development.
Provides access to a wide range of information through the provision of computer facilities for research and training purposes..
Provides support for the development of literacy: fostering the habit of reading, writing and scholarship; among the youth and children of the community.
The youth development committee in consultation with the youth committee, the town/village head, and any relevant stakeholders in the community, will select a committee for the day-to-day running of the centre.
The committee will select volunteers who will serve as librarians and facilitators of different activities or programs that the centre will be providing.
The committee shall be headed by a coordinator who, with the committee, will be reporting to the committee quarterly about the progress of the project and give recommendations where necessary.
Residents of these villages/towns will be encouraged to contribute a monthly or annual fee for the upkeep of the library. In cases where they cannot - the Project will help raise funds to keep the community library open.
